Dynamic and dashing actor Dino Morea – known for his amazing looks, fit body, on-point dressing and fabulous charm – shares his ‘look and feel great at all times’ secrets with Tsunami CostaBir.

You love working out, do you think physical activity and working out have a significant impact on how you feel, and in what way?
I do think any form of exercise not only helps your physical appearance, but also has been proven to release a lot of feel-good hormones. It makes your day better, gives you a sort of zest for life, and makes you less depressive. We all know the perks of physical exercise. It keeps your body intact. I always encourage youngsters to work out. Even if it’s for 10 or 15 minutes. A sedentary lifestyle is not good.

You’ve gone from a clean boy look, to a more savage look. What inspired the transition, and how would you say has it changed people’s perception of you?
I changed my look for my show ‘The Empire’, which came out on Hotstar last year and was very well received. After which I got more offers for a role with a similar look. People have seen me differently since then. I’ve always had a clean, squeaky guy look… and now I’ve moved to a more manly, mature look. But I am dying to shave my beard – I’d look a lot younger! I haven’t seen my face in over 2 years now! And since I’m doing two films, I have to keep the beard. But people love this rough look.

What are some recommended ways to rock a well-groomed but savage look that you manage to pull off so well, while still looking gentlemanly?
Getting my beard regularly trimmed and groomed, combed, and moisturized takes away most of the scruffiness. When I’m shooting, my stylist puts it in order. As for looking gentlemanly, it’s the personality and just being hygienic! You do have to look at yourself every day and see what works.

Who are your style and grooming inspirations?
I’ve never really been inspired by other people, I like to look at myself and take care of myself. Having said that, Yash from ‘KGF 2’ looked really good in the film. His beard was well-groomed. Was it an inspiration? Maybe! (haha)

What do you look for while shopping for daily wear – a preferred signature look, or something you are comfortable in?
Living in Mumbai, the options are not so grand. You can’t really layer yourself because it’s hot. I have some really nice hoodies, but you put them on and start sweating! So, my staple look is more or less torn jeans and a white t-shirt. Every now and then, I wear chinos and a linen shirt; I like to mix it up. In the last two months, since it has been very hot, I’ve been wearing light track pants. It keeps you cool and looks great. Whatever I wear, I make sure it fits well and looks good on me. I manage to carry off clothes really well, so I put things together and present myself well!
What is your opinion on the best way for a man to handle alcohol and other intoxicants?
The best way to handle alcohol is to not have it! Having said that, everyone likes to have a drink now and then. But it’s good to know when to stop. I enjoy a glass of wine occasionally. So as long as you’re enjoying yourself and you know when to stop, you’re good. Don’t overdo it.

As a very charismatic man yourself, what are some tips you would give men to build up their charisma and confidence?
Confidence is something that has to come from within. Stand tall, walk tall, and put your shoulders back. Never drop your shoulders. When you stand tall and put your chin up, it makes you feel better. Your body automatically feels better. Walking tall, irrespective of what your body looks like, will immediately change your attitude. Other than that, be nice, kind and respectful. A few simple social skills like this automatically make people perceive you differently.

Please share tips you would give men on choosing clothes and accessories, dressing for the occasion, and must-follow grooming practices that make a man stand out among the rest…
Wear clothes that suit you – your body shape and size; create your own style. There’s a lot of free information available on how to style yourself. You can also figure out what colours suit you better. If you’re dressing for an occasion, know what the occasion is and dress appropriately. You just have to pay a little attention to what suits you and looks good on you. As for grooming practices, keep yourself clean and wear deodorant. If you live in a hot place, wear an antiperspirant deodorant. Brush your hair, and teeth, and keep your nails short… follow basic personal hygiene.
…And that’s how Dino manages to look like a Greek God over and over again!
