Saddle up for ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’. Tsunami CostaBir wonders if it’s set to be the marvel of marvels?
Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is releasing yet another masterpiece (hope we’re not speaking too soon) in the Thor series. The film is a direct sequel to the film ‘Ragnarok’ (2017) which was also directed by Taika Waititi. Having done the blockbuster film ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ and the critically acclaimed ‘Jojo Rabbit’, fans are in no two minds about expecting this to be a fantastic sequel!
Chris Hemsworth, as we can see in the official trailer released in May, has gone ‘from dad bod to god bod’! The film also features Christian Bale as the antagonist. In the trailer, we can already see him pull off his role as a very scary ‘Gorr’. Quirky commenters with their quick wit agreed that he has in fact lived long enough to become the villain (a play on the iconic line from when he played Batman <<you either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain>>)!
‘Love and Thunder’, as the name suggests, is going to be about love and thunder – a romantic film with adventure; with elements adapted from Jason Aaron‘s run on ‘The Mighty Thor’ comic book. As the trailer highlighted, there are a lot of moments with great comedic timing. There’s a real emphasis on it being a fun film with Taika’s unique sense of humor in the way superheroes interact with each other – something we could all use more of! Natalie Portman’s role has significantly changed this film. She’s playing ‘a’ Thor and will be Hemsworth’s on-screen love interest, and we can already say, she looks stunning doing so! Tessa Thompson returns to play her role of Valkyrie and Chris Pratt, Star-Lord. ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ and ‘Endgame’ offered a nice tease of what the dynamic between Thor and Star-Lord would be like heading into ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’, with the latter notably intimidated by the former, and feeling his leadership threatened.
With all the love from fans, a fantastic cast, amazing directors and producers, Thor is set to be the first Avenger in the MCU to have its fourth solo film. It is set to release in July 2022 and we’re sure it will fill the theatres up with laughter and tears (of happiness from MCU buffs)!
