The Walking Dead series finale is coming up! Are you ready?!! …asks Tsunami Costabir.
After 10 long seasons, the show is in its 11th and final season, and we’re all patiently waiting for Part 3. Although the show is based on The Walking Dead comics, it doesn’t follow the exact blueprint. There are a lot of differences between the comics and the show’s adaptation. So we all have a lot of unanswered questions that have to be answered in this final season!
For those of you who are too scared to start the show because of how long it is (and you may have commitment issues like that), the truth is that the show may be worth watching even more now than ever. It effortlessly combines the genres of science fiction, drama and action, while creating characters that are loved by all, as viewers long for them to finally achieve ‘a world not threatened by the undead’.
And for all the buffs, let’s visit some unanswered questions to look forward to, shall we?
The final season will feature some of the regular faces of Alexandria, Oceanside and Hilltop back in action as they continue to adjust to this new, zombie-filled way of life.
The main players include Daryl (Norman Reedus), Carol (Melissa McBride), Ezekiel (Khary Payton), Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), Rosita Espinosa (Christian Serratos), Father Gabriel Stokes (Seth Gilliam), Magna (Nadia Hilker), Lydia (Cassady McClincy), Yumiko (Eleanor Matsuura) and Mercer (Michael James Shaw), and then we have ruler Lance Hornsby (Josh Hamilton).
After an extended absence, we’ve also seen the return of Lauren Cohan, who plays Maggie, and described the news of her return as “completely surreal” (at New York Comic Con).
There are lots of cliffhangers to be resolved in the last third of the final season (ALERT: SPOILERS AHEAD! Skip this and the next paragraph if you’ve been too busy to keep up). After facing the likes of Governor, Negan, Alpha and Beta, our survivors are finally about to face the evils of the CommonWealth – Pamela Milton and Lance. The last episode of part 2 of 3 was left at a cliffhanger where Lance takes over the control of Alexandria, Hilltop and Oceanside with the help of the commonwealth soldiers. Fans are eager to know how Maggie and Darrel will face them. Meanwhile, at the commonwealth, Max investigates Pamela and assembles some members of Alexandria to post an article in the newspaper about Pamela’s lies.
In Episode 5 of Season 9 “What Comes After”, Rick Grimes, in the attempt to divert the walkers from others, leads them over the bridge hoping to see the walkers fall through, to no avail. To everyone’s horror, he shoots dynamite on the bridge and blows it away. Everyone thinks he is dead and they break down. Meanwhile, Anne rescues Rick and takes him away to an undisclosed location to provide medical help. Fans are keen to know if Rick Grimes will make a comeback in the season finale. Judith and Gracie are trapped in a flooding basement; and Carol, Aaron and Connie are caught in a storm. We can’t wait to see how they tie up the loose ends!
For the length the series has been running, The Walking Dead has done a great job in maintaining consistently favorable reviews. “The final season is The Walking Dead like you’ve never seen it before. Even at the beginning of the end, The Walking Dead isn’t dying, it’s living again”, wrote a fan on the Rotten Tomatoes site.
Although The Walking Dead, as we know it, is coming to an end, the franchise is more alive than ever, and plenty of spinoffs are on the way… so, let this be a happy ending!
